Over the  last 5 years I've been using a Trek 3, Sea to Summit sleeping bag and think it represents great performance at a reasonable cost. Excellent just got better.

It's not a cheap sleeping bag....but that's the point!

I've used mine at Alpine Rallies and various trips in the boonies, both cold and hot weather.
Sea to Summit started as a sleeping bag company and have many years of experience to draw on.

2019 bags are blue.

Here is what they say about their Trek 3 series.

Traditional comfort and value, with an anything but traditional design approach, the Trek™ Series sleeping bags are what we grab for globe-trotting adventures on a budget.

Vertical baffles over the chest section ensure the down insulati`on cannot migrate or shift to the outside of the bag during sleep, creating cold spots. A side block baffle construction maintains the 60/40 fill ratio, keeping more down on the top of the bag for maximum insulation.

Lightweight fabrics reduce weight and packed bulk while the two-way #5 YKK full length side zip and separate foot zip, allows the bag to open out completely and double as a quilt. The foot zip is perfect for extra ventilation or to provide freedom of movement for your feet.

The 3D side-wall baffle ensures that down can loft to the very edge of the bag, maximising insulation, while the panelled hood draws in tight when needed or lies flat for use in warmer weather. The oversized zipper draft tube uses anti-snag materials to prevent the zipper catching and the soft-touch 20D lining fabric is highly breathable yet also down proof.

Completing the thoughtful design features of this classic down bag, we have included a large internal security pocket, perfect for keeping valuables close or batteries warm.

What really impresses me about this bag is the attention to detail. The a storage bag for home and compression storage bag for the road. We are encouraged to register our bag with Sea to Summit for example. The zippers actually work from inside and outside the bag and don't snag due to the clever stiffened baffle system. The Hood drawstring works two way, closes at the head and/or the chin. It's shaped but not restrictive in the foot area.

I understand that you don't spend 400 + bucks on a sleeping bag very often and want to be sure you are getting an excellent item. That is why I have put time into checking it out. This is the best sleeping bag I have ever owned!

  • Warm as

I bought this bag in the Long version for a trip to the Flinders Ranges and up the track to Oodnadatta. It's warm, comfortable, light and packs down great. The no snag zipper is great compared to other bags I've used. We had a night in Farina that was about -5 and I was warm all night despite getting up to a good layer of ice on my swag. I believe this is well priced for a light, small and warm bag that's great for bike touring, you just can't beat being warm and getting a good nights sleep. It can be opened up to use like a doona if the temp is higher so pretty versatile but I've not had to use it above about 4 degrees so far. I'm really happy I bought it and expect I'll get years and years out of it based on the quality. 5 stars
