KTM 1290 R and S Frame and Avduro Luggage sets
The Strapz elves have had their sticky fingers all over the new 1290 Kato and developed a set of frames to support our Avduro Pannier (click for more info) saddlebag (fits all previous saddlebag sets of ours too) systems. And… I’m chuffed with the result.
Although the frameset accommodates most ‘throw-over’ bags and all Andy Strapz Pannier systems, the new Avduro 2 are the best choice.

Run with or without pillion peg brackets.
Straps can be placed under or over the pillion seat.
Rear cross bracing is redundant on our system as the weight of the bags is borne on the seat. They could be lighter still but riders will crash!
Designed to have the weight of the bags taken on the seat area, they are strong but light. We’ve carefully considered stress and impact areas, applying lessons learnt from 15 years of making our support frames.
Frame weight - under 2 kg - frames and all fittings. Mild steel, powder-coated satin black, stainless bolts.
Fitted in about 15 minutes, frames can be removed when not travelling. Michael H from Qld said about the frameset - "Took me longer to unwrap them than to install. Lol"

Total weight of bags and frame set 4KG!
We usually have bags on the shelf ready to go but occasionally we may need a few days to finish off a new batch.
Firsly that great big exhaust, it's neither high or low. Too high to fit our Traveller bag above it like the last model 1190 and 1290 system that worked so well for us. Too low and far away from the bike to fit the frame outside it.
Part of our thinking was that the mighty 1290 is a two up bike and therefore needed the most luggage space we could muster and the straps for the bags needed to be able to be slung under the seat for pillion duties or over seat for solo.
We scratched our heads, trying what seemed like an endless number of options. Like Adventure riding itself we found this compromise.
The bike is also Asymmetrical, maybe the Austrians set the rear of the bike out with a hard box system in mind. At least that's how it looked to us.
So after much too-ing and fro-ing, we settled on Avduro Panniers and our small frame system with a seriously err...stylish angle.
Soft bags do best with an angled frame so they don't hang over the vertical
