BMW 1200/1250 GS soft saddle bag support frames
Australian Made throw over saddle bag pannier supports for BMW R 1200 and 1250 GS
These frames are intended to be basic and lightweight supports for our saddle bags.
As the weight of the bags is carried on the seat we only require the frames to stop the panniers flapping about or contacting the exhausts. Rear joining stays are obsolete for our system and only add weight (and ugliness).
You'll see all sorts of comments out there in webland. A common comment is that our frames are too lightweight. Our approach is to make a frame that can take minor tumbles, be straightened with a pair of hands and a size nine after bigger ones, repaired in a cockies shed and protect the subframe of the bike by being somewhat "sacrificial". Andy Strapz pannier support sets weigh in the region of 2kg so we ain't making crash bars for the rear.

I put a set of these on my GSA (with the big tank), fit no problem. Much lighter than the stock GSA frames and they let the panniers sit further forward. Used them for a 5200km outback desert trip with Andy's panniers - couldn't fault the set up. Simple, tough and convenient.
